UK: one million liters of Saf fuel
Farnborough Airport reaches milestone for private flights
The management company of the British Farnborough airport, especially dedicated to general aviation operations with corporate flights and private planes, recently announced the sale of the millionth liter of sustainable aviation fuel (Saf, Sustainable Aviation Fuel). A testimony that the sensitivity on the topic of decarbonization also involves the owners of the aircraft considered to be the most polluting.
"We want to be a true catalyst for change and are always looking for new ways to provide and create sustainable energy sources. We are pleased with this achievement. Our vision is to become a Saf-only airport by the end of the decade", said Simon Geere, Chief Executive Officer of Farnborough Airport.
The stopover only started making Saf fuel available to all its customers in 2021. Today it is one of the UK airports with the highest sales rate of sustainable fuel compared to traditional kerosene. Among the environmental sustainability objectives, the airport is now aiming to install photovoltaic systems and achieve net zero emissions by 2030.
