London: fire at Luton airport
The flames have devoured a car park - VIDEO
Operations suspended at London-Luton Airport until 4pm Italian time. All flights to and from the British airport are cancelled until this afternoon, according to what was communicated by the management company LLA. A decision determined by safety reasons, after the fire that broke out last night, around 9 pm local time, which consumed the top floor of the car park adjacent to the airport.
The airport manager announced that the suspension of flights was necessary to guarantee full support to emergency services and to protect the safety of passengers and airport staff. The fire that broke out in the multi-storey car park, in fact, caused a "significant structural collapse" of the building. According to fire brigade estimates, up to 1,200 vehicles were left stuck in the car park and some were damaged.
Below, the video. The shot was made by a passenger on a bus parked in the concourse of the British airport. In the images you can see the flames devouring the top floor of the car park, with enormous columns of smoke rising into the sky and the flames lighting up the night.
