New Zealand: medical helicopter crash
Healthcare worker manages to complete rescue operation despite accident
An air ambulance made a "heavy landing" in New Zealand while carrying out medical treatment on a patient. It happened yesterday afternoon in Pirongia Park, south of the city of Auckland, while the crew went to rescue an injured hiker. The paramedic who was on board the helicopters managed to complete the rescue operation, despite the accident.
According to initial reconstruction, the helicopter was heading to Pirongia Forest Park, about two hours south of Auckland. Suddenly, for reasons yet to be ascertained, the aircraft progressively lost altitude, making an "heavy landing", remaining stuck among the trees. Despite everything, the paramedic on board reached the injured hiker, who was 200 meters away, completing the rescue operation.
