Aircraft and transport: another encounter at the Italian Mimit
EasyJet, Neos, SkyAlps and Assaeroporti delegations audition
The delegations of the air carriers easyJet, Neos, SkyAlps and of the Assaeroporti confindustria association, which brings together some Italian airport management companies in the "Bel Paese", will be today at the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (Mimit), led by Adolfo Urso, to preparatory bilateral meetings, in view of a future discussion table on air transport in Italy which will start on 19 September. Among the topics on the agenda: expensive flights and transparency on extra costs.
The Italian Government seems intent on holding firm on the fight against high-flying prices, it said in a note: at European level "a less permissive orientation is spreading to counter the increasingly evident violations of consumers' rights". London and Madrid are in fact trying to curb the practice of "drip pricing", which encourages customers to buy extras.
The United Kingdom has announced that a specific investigation will be launched, already within the year, with the aim of preventing companies from adding the "hidden costs". The Spanish government has initiated disciplinary proceedings against several low-cost airlines for charging extra fees for cabin baggage. This too will be discussed today at Mimit.
