The hurricane is expected to reach Category 3 before arriving on the coast of Florida, with winds that could reach 190 km/h. After causing flooding in Cuba, the tropical storm became a Category 2 hurricane late Tuesday afternoon, fueled by warm waters in the Gulf of Mexico.

Tampa's "Saint Pete" international airports in Clearwater have been closed since Tuesday afternoon, while the Sarasota-Bradenton airport stopped operations yesterday at 7:00 pm. Major US airlines have contacted passengers, inviting them to rebook their flights.
