Polish army among the strongest in Europe

The country represents a fundamental NATO outpost against the Russian threat

The upgrading of the military's capacity is making Poland one of the strongest North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) militaries outside the United States. The recent agreement for a potential purchase of 96 Boeing AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, approved by the US State Department last week, is a clear sign.

"This trade is very important. Gunships are very good tank killers. And if only Ukraine had an Apache now, it could not only destroy Russian tanks, but also launch Hellfire missiles at some of the obstacles that are now block the current offensive" by Kiev, explained the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO policy, Jim Townsend, interviewed by the "Polish Press Agency" (PAP)

Poland is currently investing around 3.5% of its GDP in the defense sector. This is because within the Atlantic Alliance the country represents a fundamental outpost of the European Union and NATO against the Russian military threat pressing on Eastern Europe.
