New suitor for TAP Portugal airline
Consortium led by Lusitanian entrepreneurs vying for privatisation
There is a new suitor who will participate in the negotiations for the privatization of the national airline Tap Portugal. It is a consortium made up of Lusitanian entrepreneurs, who will compete with the Franco-Dutch Group Air France-KLM, with the Germans of Lufthansa and with International Airlines Group (IAG) to acquire the flag air carrier. It was revealed unofficially by the national economic newspapaer "Negócios".
The consortium is led by Portuguese entrepreneurs Mano Ferreira and Diogo Lacerda Machado (former director of the TAP company and economic adviser to the current Prime Minister António Costa). Germán Efromovich, owner of the Colombian company Avianca and non-executive president of AeroItalia, who already in 2015 tried to buy part of the Portuguese airline, would also belong to the group.
