Edinburgh Airport is back in operation
Take-offs and landings suspended for road repairs
The Scottish airport of Edinburgh, hub for the low-cost airlines easyJet and Ryanair, is back fully operational. Departures and arrivals were temporarily suspended yesterday morning after a runway required maintenance crews to carry out emergency repairs to the road surface.
The alarm was raised around 8:00am and the service returned shortly after 8:30am. The workers intervened to solve a problem on the taxiway. During that time, four incoming aircraft were diverted to Glasgow and Newcastle airports. While the aircraft departing from Edinburgh were held "for a short period of time. Since then the works have been completed and operations have resumed", said the airport management.
