Kuwait Airways leases eight new aircraft
These are A-321neo; the aim is to support narrow-body airplanes
The management of the national carrier Kuwait Airways declared in the last few hours that it intends to lease eight A-321neo passenger aircraft of European production. The company's goal is to expand its fleet over the next ten years, favoring narrow-body airplanes. The announcement made the value of the Group's share skyrocket, which reached a maximum of +1.3% (128.40 Euros) on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The fleet restructuring effectively results in fewer aircraft models in service and "this would help ease the movement of operations for pilots, engineers, flight crews and save training expenses. In addition, the agreement will allow increase passenger seating capacity and financial savings", said the company's chairman, Ali Al-Dukhan.
At the moment the air carrier is examining the offers of the various leasing companies and the duration of the contract, which will be between eight and ten years. The eight-plane lease plan adds to the multibillion-dollar deal signed in 2022 between Kuwait Airways and Airbus for the purchase of 31 aircraft, 18 of which have already been delivered.
