Eurocontrol: one million flights in July
A performance not seen since 2019
Air traffic in the European skies has returned to a positive monthly performance, not seen since the period before the pandemic. It is certified by Eurocontrol, the European air traffic control agency which monitors and develops the efficiency of the system. According to the latest data, in July 2023 the total number of connections in European skies broke through the million mark.
It is the first time this has happened since September 2019. In around half of the member countries observed by Eurocontrol, traffic levels are even higher than those recorded in July 2019, particularly at airports in southeastern Europe. Furthermore, the continental body reported that flights have increased on average by +7% compared to July 2022.
