Brazil bets on cargo technology

Thanks to new systems, the duration of customs clearance drops to 24 hours

The government of Brazil introduced a new electronic cargo control system at airports in Brazil. This will drastically reduce customs clearance times, with a consequent increase in revenue for import rights. Thanks to this technology, the duration of customs clearance will go from five days to just 24 hours. The new procedure was tested at the Vitoria airport. It is estimated that the flow of goods will double in two years.

"The new system is expected to double air cargo flows in up to two years, attract foreign investment and expand federal air cargo revenues from 3.66 billion euros today to 7.3 billion euros. It is a world-leading system in terms of logistics", added Finance Minister Fernando Haddad.
