ITA Airways (2): new BoD, who they are

The biographies of the president Turicchi and of the board members Valeria Vaccaro and Francesco Spada

New three-member board of directors for national carrier ITA Airways. It was nominated by the shareholders' meeting held yesterday afternoon at the company headquarters in Rome-Fiumicino. The new board is composed as follows: Antonino Turicchi president, Valeria Vaccaro and Francesco Spada board members. Below their biographies.

Turicchi, was confirmed executive president. A position he will hold for ten months. Originally from Viterbo, with a degree in economics, in 1994 he was hired by the Italian Ministry of Economy where he became manager. He was general manager of Italian Cassa depositi e prestiti (CDP) from 2002 to 2009, overseeing its transformation into a joint-stock company. He then worked for the Municipality of Rome. In 2011 he became Country President of the Alstom Group, then a passage in the board of directors of Alitalia-CAI (Compagnia aerea italiana). He has worked for Autostrade per l'Italia (Aspi), Leonardo, STMicroelectronics, Mediocredito. Currently managing director of Fintecna, a company of the CDP group which deals with managing state investments in companies and entities.

Director Vaccaro was president of Consip (2020-2022) the purchasing center of the Italian public administration. Neapolitan, born in 1961, she has a degree in Law. She began her career as a civil servant in 1987 at the Ministry of Foreign Trade. Since 1999 she has been a manager in the legislative office of the Ministry of Finance and in 2001 she moved to the Ministry of the Treasury. Since 2007 she has been director of the Cabinet office of the MEF. From 2008 head of the General Administration of Personnel and Services Department of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, then moving to the Personnel Directorate (from 2011 to 2018).

Councilor Spada was part of the executive staff of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Born in 1981, Apulian originally from San Severo, he has a law degree. Having won the competition for access to management in the state, since 2010 he has held various positions in the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, where he became manager of the Cabinet office (from 2016 to 2021). He then moved to the ministry of tourism, taking care of the projects of the Pnrr (National recovery and resilience plan) in the role of deputy head of cabinet.
