Tunisia receives military training aircraft

The aim is to strengthen aeronautical capacity to address security challenges

Tunisia has recently received four Beechcraft T-6 Texan II military trainer aircraft produced by the American company Textron Aviation. The aircraft will be located at the Sfax air base. It is a sale made possible by the cooperation between the two countries for the renewal of the military aviation fleet of the North African country. The goal is to strengthen the capabilities of the Tunis Air Force to address security challenges.

The handover ceremony was presided over by the Tunisian defense minister, Imed Memmich, in the presence of the US ambassador in Tunis, Joey Hood, the local air force undersecretary, representatives of the United States military command in Africa (Africom), as well as Tunisian government officials, military and civilian personnel.

"These aircraft will strengthen the Air Force's operational capabilities in combat training of pilots, allowing them to acquire advanced training capabilities thanks to their technical-operational characteristics. These aircraft will continue to support the air forces of friendly African Nations" and "this consolidates Tunisian-American relations", Memmich said.
