Fire on Catania's airport. ITA Airways is working with it and other Sicilian airports to minimise passenger disruption

Together with other Sicilian airports; flights rescheduled to the Comiso "Pio La Torre" airport

ITA Airways is working with Catania Airport and other Sicilian airports to minimise passenger disruption following the fire at "Vincenzo Bellini" International Airport in Catania-Fontanarossa, Sicily.

Today's flights to Catania will be rescheduled to the Comiso "Pio La Torre" airport. In detail, the Company will operate 5 flights from Milan-Linate and 5 ones from Rome-Fiumicino to Comiso airport, to protect passengers who need to reach Sicily without cancelling outbound flights to the island.

The flights will depart from the "Pio La Torre" airport in ferry flight mode to reach Milan and Rome airports, given the unavailability at the Comiso airport for boarding and check-in operations.

In this way, the company will take on the costs of guaranteeing the mobility of outbound passengers, demonstrating ITA Airways' attention to Sicily and its citizens.

The carrier ensures maximum collaboration with the competent authorities and the Region of Sicily to reduce possible inconvenience to travellers and is working to strengthen its flight offer from Palermo airport, with the support of ground connections that will be guaranteed by local and regional transport operators. Already this evening, there will be two additional flights, one to Rome-Fiumicino and one to Milan-Linate.
