NATO summit with defense companies

Scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday 14 June, in Brussels

Tomorrow, Wednesday 14 June, a summit within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) between the secretary general Jens Stoltenberg and 25 companies operating in the defense and security sector, including the Italian aviation group Leonardo and the missile manufacturer Franco-Italian Mbda. The European Union is also planning investments to support the production capacity of continental companies. 

The meeting takes place in the framework of the new meeting of the US-led Contact Group for Ukraine, on the eve of the ministerial meeting in the defense sector, with the aim of "coordinating efforts" to increase the production of ammunition. The High Representative for Foreign and Defense Policy, Josep Borrell, was present for the EU. 

"Military planning is NATO's responsibility and it is therefore essential to avoid duplication, concentrating work on interoperability, development and joint acquisitions", specifies a diplomat familiar with the dossier. Among the companies present are the Belgian FN Herstal, the Finnish Patria, the German Rheinmetall, the Norwegian Nammo, the Knds, the Turkish Roketsan, the Bulgarian Arsen, the Czechoslovak Group and for the United States Raytheon Technologies and Lockheed Martin.
