Geneva Airport: flights resume
Towards normal operations after activists have occupied the runway and landing
The Geneva International Airport is gradually resuming operations after a group of about 100 climate activists penetrated the Apron, partially occupying the take-off and landing runway. This forced the local authorities to briefly stop air traffic. The protest was organized in conjunction with the inauguration of the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (Ebace), the private aircraft sales fair started today.
"Due to an incursion of people on the runway, air traffic is temporarily interrupted at Geneva airport", indicated the airport authorities in a tweet, before specifying a few minutes later that air traffic "has been gradually resumed from 12:40". The environmentalists of Greenpeace, Stay Grounded, Scientist Rebellion, Extinction Rebellion organized the joint protest.
