Pilots from the Czech Republic, Jiri Prusa and Eliska Kudejova, broke the world record for the longest non-stop flight in a sport plane in the past few hours. The Shark 600 aircraft (trademarks OK BUG-11) remained airborne for 10 hours and 24 minutes, covering 1919 kilometers (breaking the previous record of 1036 kilometres). 

"There was an easterly wind, so when we tacked over Berlin we felt it a lot. There was a headwind over Poland at 30km/h in places, so we didn't fly as easterly as we would have liked and we also had to divert Hungary", Prusa said after landing. 

The two pilots had taken off at 8:06 from Dlouha Lhota airport, near Pribram, in the Czech Republic, where the aircraft then returned at 18:27 after the record flight which involved the airspace of Germany, Poland and Slovakia. The record will now have to be officially confirmed by the International Aeronautical Federation (FAI), whose commissioner oversaw the attempt.
