Kenya will buy tre police helicopters
The aim is to modernize the law enforcement fleet
The Kenyan Government has started the procedures for the purchase of three new police helicopters. These aircraft will enter service in the National Security Service. The goal is to modernize the law enforcement fleet. The executive has made available over 135 million euros for this sale, which will be completed within the next three months.
This was communicated by the Secretary of the Interior Ministry, Kithure Kindiki, who illustrated the executive's plan in front of the national assembly yesterday, Wednesday 12 April: "We hope to revive the police air fleet, which is completely dead today, in order to end the dependence on the military". We need to "relaunch the equipment modernization programme, which will last for the next three years".
The politician said that Kenya is also interested in equipping the national police with armored vehicles and drones, for the National Police Service (NPS) with greater "technology and intelligence" capabilities. Attempt made and failed already in 2014, when the Government launched a program to modernize police vehicles.
