Aegean Airlines nearly performs 2019
The air carrier has its accounts in order and a positive number of passengers carried
The Greek carrier Aegean Airlines recently communicated the results obtained during 2022: turnover is 1.34 billion euros (2% on 2021), profits 107 million euros (+36%), with 12, 5 million people transported. The data shows that the company has broken the record for the number of travellers handled in 2019, that is when there were still no restrictions on traffic in the skies due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Based on last year's performance, Aegean expects a solid 2023. According to the Greek carrier, the data on bookings for the following Summer are encouraging. However, the airline will not be the only one that will try to make the most of the tourist demand of 2023 destined for Greece: among the major competitors, those in greatest expansion, there are Sky Express and Ryanair; to which easyJet, Wizz Air, Jet2 and Eurowings will be added next Summer.
Aegean Airlines is the largest national carrier by number of passengers carried. It has been a member of the Star Alliance global alliance since June 2010. Its main base is the Athens International Airport. It operates scheduled and charter services from the Greek capital and Thessaloniki to other important Greek, European and Middle Eastern destinations for a total of 155 routes. The operator currently operates a fleet of 55 aircraft, including 46 A-320 Family aircraft.
