North Korea tests another missile

The launch on the day the South Korean president arrives in Japan

The General Staff of the South Korean armed forces communicated that North Korea carried out yet another missile test during the Italian night. The launch was timed on the same day that South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol arrived in Japan to open a "new chapter" in diplomatic relations between Seoul and Tokyo as the United States and South Korea hold joint naval exercises.

According to a South Korean and Japanese reconstruction, the missile was launched at 07:10 in the morning local time from a military base located on the coast of North Korea. It would be a ballistic rocket that traveled about 1000 km, landing just outside the Japanese maritime space. It is the fourth missile launch carried out by Pyongyang in the last seven days: other rockets, all short-range ballistics, were launched last Thursday, Saturday and Monday.

The one with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is the first large-scale summit between the leaders of the two countries in 12 years. Yoon 's rise to power, growing concerns over Pyongyang's repeated provocations and China's regional ambitions have revived hopes for reconciliation between the two neighbours.
