Ukrainian war: Xi Jinping in Moscow
Probable visit next week and phone call with Zelensky
Chinese President Xi Jinping could travel to Moscow next week for a meeting with his counterpart Vladimir Putin. A clear commitment, that of Beijing, to resolve the war in Ukraine, confirmed by the fact that it is also preparing to speak with the Ukrainian president Volodymir Zelensky.
The announcement by international media, including the US newspaper "Wall Street Journal", comes after Xi won a historic third term to lead the country on March 10. For now, these are just rumors, but according to the "Reuters" news agency there could be an acceleration in the program for the Chinese president's visit to Moscow.
The trip to Europe would be the beginning of a great Chinese diplomatic maneuver in which Xi tries to act as a mediator between Putin and Zelensky. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not confirm: "At the moment I have nothing to say on the matter. As a rule, the announcement of official visits abroad takes place simultaneously, by mutual agreement of the parties. We will inform you".
