United States: Zelensky-Biden meeting today
Ukrainian leader will also give a speech at the US Congress
US President Joe Biden is preparing today to welcome to Washington his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is flying overseas to the United States. For the political leader of Kiev, this is the first trip abroad after the beginning of the conflict with Russia, which began last February 24 with the invasion by the armed forces led by the Kremlin.
Among the priorities that will be discussed in the various institutional meetings will be the war between Russia and Ukraine, which today is taking place on two fronts: in the fields and forests of southern and eastern Ukraine, where the armies of both sides are deploying to better face the war in the cold months: the Russians attacking civilian infrastructure with missiles and drones; the Ukrainians seeking to enhance anti-aircraft defense and control of the skies.
In addition to the meeting with Biden in the White House, Zelensky in Washington will give a speech to the United States Congress in joint chambers. Meanwhile, the military aid package worth 1.8 billion dollars, approved by US parliamentarians and which includes Patriot missiles, brings the value of military supplies sent by Washington to Kiev since the start of the Russian invasion to 20 billion (February 24, 2022).
