China launches new aircraft carrier
The "Fujian" ship is the most advanced in the fleet with EW capabilities
The Chinese Navy today launched "Fujian", its third aircraft carrier at a ceremony held at Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai. It is a warship entirely designed and built in China. It is the most technically advanced craft in the Dragon's maritime fleet. Beyond the proclamation, it will take time before entry into service. In fact, the Ministry of Defense has not announced a firm date.
The announcement was made by the news site "Global Times". The aircraft carrier has a displacement capacity of 80,000 tons and is equipped with Electronic Warfare systems, including the first electromagnetic catapult. The inauguration comes at a time of serious diplomatic tensions in the Pacific region, mainly due to Chinese maneuvers in disputed waters with Taiwan.
