Ukrainian conflict: Draghi's trip

The visit with French President Macron and German President Scholz

Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Kiev in recent hours, where they will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The photo of the three leaders traveling by train to the country where war is raging immediately went viral.

"You have the world on your side" Draghi told local authorities in Irpin, the town located in the Bucha district, northwest of Kiev, which has been heavily hit by attacks by Russian armed forces and is a sad protagonist of war crimes. The three European politicians visited the bombing sites.

As he stepped off the train from Poland that brought him to Kiev, French President Macron, recalled that that is "a place of war where massacres were committed. We have come to send a message of European unity toward all Ukrainian citizens. A message of support because the coming weeks will be very difficult".

For his part, Chancellor Scholz, in an interview with the German newspaper "Bild" assured: "We not only want to show our solidarity, but also to ensure that the aid that we are organizing: financial, humanitarian, but also regarding weapons. We will continue as long as it is necessary for the struggle for Ukraine's independence".
