Chinese plane crash caused by intentional act

US media revelation after first black box analysis

The China Eastern Airlines B-737/800 plane that crashed to the ground on March 21 with 132 people on board was allegedly brought down intentionally. It is unclear whether by choice of one of the crewmembers, commander or pilot, or by an intruder. This is what emerges from the first indications following initial examinations on the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR), according to the US "Wall Street Journal" newspaper.

The aircraft (flight MU5735) had taken off from Kunming and was bound for Guangzhou, but crashed in the Guanxi Mountains. The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) had completed its preliminary report on the March 21, 2022 China plane crash, but the lack of readable black box data had not allowed it to offer further details.

Now the insane act hypothesis is gaining momentum. Flight data indicated that someone in the cockpit deactivated the autopilot, causing the plane to crash in a well-defined action. This suggests that the aircraft was fully functional and that the descent into the dive was the result of an intentional action, not originating from technical or mechanical problems. At present, the Chinese investigation has not attributed specific responsibility. The "Wall Street Journal", however, reported that attention would focus on the figure of the commander. This is reminiscent of the Germanwings plane crash in which 150 people who were on board the A-320/200, registration D-AIPX, died on March 24, 2015.
