Ukrainian war: Washington sends money and weapons to Kiev

The US authorized other aids to contrast the armed offensive of Russia

The United States has authorized in recent hours a new package of economic and military aid to Kiev and aimed at countering the military offensive against the Russians. Among the supplies there are anti-tank missiles "Javelin" and anti-aircraft rockets "Stingers", as well as remotely piloted aircraft. Washington's decision comes in the wake of an announcement made Monday by Defense Department spokesman John Kirby, who heads the Pentagon.

"I have authorized the immediate drawdown of security aid money worth up to 100 million dollars to meet Ukraine's urgent need for additional anti-armor systems for Ukrainian forces", U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in recent hours.

This authorization is the sixth shipment of armaments, equipment and supplies arranged by the U.S. Department of Defense to Ukraine since August 2021. Washington's total commitment to Ukraine since the conflict began (February 24, 2022) amounts to more than 1.7 billion dollars, the United States notes.
