Why British Airways ticket prices go up and down

Cancellations and inconveniences: air carrier makes up for ticket costs, then backs down

After the numerous cancellations and delays of air connections, there has been a sharp increase in ticket prices for the U.K. national airline British Airways. This decision comes after the inconveniences recorded last week, caused by a computer failure, then resolved, but which has led to several knock-on effects, also fueled by staff shortages and a new wave of covid-19 infections.

All this affects prices: just look at the bookings for many short-haul flights over the Easter period: a seat in economy class from London-Heathrow to Manchester on Sunday cost 496 euros, for Paris the price was 500 and for Milan 782. However, on the same day a flight from London to Paris with Air France in economy class could be purchased for 60 euros.

This probably discouraged users from buying a ticket. In fact, within a few hours a flight from London-Heathrow to Dublin for Easter fell from 501 to 118 euros. In any case, British Airways looks forward to the summer with renewed hope, but will have to deal with every problem if it wants to hit the target.
