Russian conflict: failed agreement on ceasefire

Meeting in Turkey between Ukrainian and Russian foreign ministers

No agreement on the ceasefire in Ukraine. This is the result of the negotiations held today between the Russian Foreign Minister, Serghei Lavrov, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, on the occasion of the "Antalya Diplomacy Forum", the diplomatic summit organized in Ankara, Turkey. It remains the readiness of both for a new meeting.

"We did our best for a solution but there are no developments, there is no progress on the ceasefire. I came here with a humanitarian purpose, to get out of the meeting with a humanitarian corridor from Mariupol for civilians who want to escape the city. Unfortunately Lavrov was not in a position to commit", said Minister Kuleba at the end of the summit with his Russian counterpart.

For his part, Lavrov explained: "We have not attacked in Ukraine. In Ukraine a situation has been created that has led to a threat against Moscow, we have made several appeals but no one has listened to us. We have no intention to attack any European country. The special operation in Ukraine is going according to plan".

The face-to-face meeting lasted 90 minutes and was held at the "Regnum Carya" Hotel in Ankara. The summit was chaired by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. At the end of the meeting the two held separate press conferences in which they explained what was discussed.
