Turkey announces drone tests with laser weapons
Unmanned aircraft unveiled at "Government promotion days"

According to "Anadolu Ajansı", a news agency owned by the Government of Turkey, in recent days the Ankara police has successfully tested the first military drone equipped with laser weapons. The remotely controlled unmanned aircraft would hit programmed targets located at 500, 300 and 100 meters. The new armament was unveiled at the "Government Promotion Days" on defense and security, held at the Ato congress center in Ankara the last month, attended by more than 40 entities, organizations and ministries.
The drone is called Eren and is the result of a collaboration between the companies Tübitak and Asisguard, under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security (Egm). This armament can reach a maximum altitude of 3000 meters. It can be used to perform various types of operations, including the destruction of explosive devices thanks to the laser weapon, without the intervention of bomb squads. The new system will enter service with the Turkish Armed Forces as soon as testing is complete.
"Eren is a drone with a laser weapon. We have made the world's first combination of laser and drone and acquired the ability to shoot from the air. Eren is a completely domestic production. Finally obtained positive results in tests from certain distances", said Deputy Commissioner Aykut Eroglu.
