Serbia will buy 29 military helicopters

Serbia will purchase 29 military helicopters in the next two years to be used by the local Army. The order is composed by 11 twin-engine H-145 Cobra produced by the European Airbus Helicopters, 4 Mi-35 aircraft and three Mi-17, as well as 11 used Mi-35 all of Russian manufacture. The total value of the order is around 145 million Euros. The investment will be made executive in the first quarter of 2022.

It was announced yesterday by the President of the Republic Aleksandar Vucic during a press conference. The politician added that the funds will also be used for the purchase of new equipment and instruments, as well as for the modernization of existing ones. Moreover, he let it be known that in the next five years the value of the agreements concluded between the Serbian Army and the national defense industry will exceed 1.25 billion Euros.

The H-145M is a twin-engine medium-light helicopter in a militarized version certified in 2015. It features ballistic protection, internal and external attachment points for armaments and sensors, winch and military avionics. The purchase had been announced in recent months by Serbia's Defense Minister, Nebojsa Stefanovic, at "Partner 2021", the 10th international defense exhibition held in Belgrade.
