USA, After four years of negotiations, Northwest Airlines reached a satisfactorily agreement with mechanics and cleaners, also to avoid a threatened walkout. The contract would make Northwest's mechanics the U.S. industry's highest-paid, raising their pay by an average of 24.4 percent over the four years.
