Germany criticizes transfer of American planes and troops
Military and F-16 aircraft should be relocated to Italy
Washington's decision to withdraw American troops from Germany was bound to have consequences. Berlin's reactions this morning are at least angry. Soldiers and F-16 planes are destined to be transferred to Italy (see for details AVIONEWS), to be precise at the Aviano base. Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, German defense minister, explained that the consequence of this choice is easily imaginable: the country will have to take care of its own security. The hope is that we can at least continue more quickly with European security and defense policy. The Teutonic areas from which the US troops will depart will therefore be helped, even if the exact way must be decided together with the Laender involved (Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden Wuerttemberg).
Horst Seehofe, Minister of the Interior, thought about raising the dose: according to him, relations between Germany and the US could be compromised, which is why the gap should be filled as soon as possible. In addition to Italy, Belgium and Poland are also two of the countries in which to resettle soldiers. The most important command center in the region as regards ground forces should be born in Poland, as highlighted by the Minister of the Interior Mariusz Błaszczak. The change was motivated by the Berlin decision not to pay additional defense costs.
