Planes. Air France prepares for Summer 2020
It will serve 80% of the connections on its regular network
Air France announces today that it is gradually strengthening its flight program in order not to be unprepared for Summer 2020. In normal conditions, the Summer months together with the periods of religious holidays are the most peak for passenger traffic. All airlines are therefore confident in the coming months for the recovery from the crisis from Covid-19, not least the French company, which intends to bring its planes stopped for months to flight.
By the end of June, scheduled flights will therefore represent 20% of the capacity usually used in the period. Then, subject to travel restrictions, the gradual increase in the number of frequencies and destinations will continue, reaching 35% of the flight schedule initially planned for July, and 40% in August. Air France plans to serve nearly 150 destinations, that is 80% of its usual network, with the priority given to strengthening its national network. Several routes between Paris and the French regions will resume, as will the inter-regional routes, in particular to and from Corsica. The number of services will also increase towards the French overseas departments and territories, as well as Europe, mainly Spain, Greece, Italy and Portugal.
Long-haul services will gradually resume on a large part of the network, both for passenger and freight transport, which in this period proves to be particularly lively.
"We can see that people need to travel again, and we will gradually resume services to 150 destinations in France, Europe and the rest of the world this Summer. After this difficult period, we are delighted to be back in business. All staff are on the ground and on board, it is committed to guaranteeing our passengers the highest levels of health and safety", Anne Rigail, Air France's CEO said it.
