USA give up F-35 planes and drones to erect the wall
$ 3.8 billion unlocked for the barrier between the United States and Mexico
The United States released yesterday another $ 3.8 billion to erect the wall on the US-Mexico border wanted by American President Donald Trump (see AVIONEWS). Pentagon could give up a substantial number of F-35 fighter planes and drones to recover economic resources.
Today, however, there was a dispute on social media between the US president and the secretary of justice William Barr. Federal prosecutors had requested seven to nine years in prison for Roger Stone, a friend of Trump, accused of lying under oath to protect the American leader from "Russiagate". Furious Trump demanded that the Justice Department not recognize the prosecutors' work and Barr initially succumbed to pressure causing a series of magistrates' resignations. The secretary then took a step back. The president began publishing a series of intimidating posts on Twitter and Barr, on the verge of resignation, replied: "My job is becoming impossible".
