According to preliminary information there were no deaths during the accident involving a B-737/86J aircraft, TC-IZK registration, of the Turkish Pegasus Airlines, which broke into two parts after leaving the runway at "Sabiha Gokcenad" airport in Istanbul. Instead the toll is three victims, 157 people injured and the pilots are in critical condition. 183 people were on board the aircraft, departing from Smyrna. Passengers got off the aircraft through the fuselage splits. The Istanbul prosecutor has opened an investigation to ascertain the causes of the accident, which occurred in poor visibility and difficult weather conditions.
The B-737/86J airplane is a variant of the B-737/800 member of the "Next Generation" family. It is a twin-jet jet aircraft, narrow fuselage, used for medium-short haul routes, produced by the US company Boeing. Equipped with laminar flow wingspan, a glass cockpit and new interior.
