Cloud services to support defense
USD 10 billions awarded by the Pentagon to Microsoft for cloud services. The 10-year Jedi (Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure) contract is an important milestone for the American IT company that won the "maxi-order" by beating competitors IBM, Oracle and Amazon.
United States President Donald Trump was also involved in the allocation process.
The technology will support the defense department's activities, the operational missions of the US military both within the borders and in all international operations, providing the military with faster and more functional access to their databases even from remote locations, which can be consulted directly on the battlefield.
Dana Deasy, head of US defense information said: "It is an important step in implementing the digital modernization strategy".
