Even Africa conquers space
The first Ethiopian satellite with the support of China
In December, the first Ethiopian satellite will be launched into space with the support of China. It was announced today by the Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde during a parliamentary session of the Chambers of Representatives of Ethiopia and the Federation.
The first platform in Addis Ababa, called ETRSS-1, is a 70 kilogram multispectral remote sensing satellite that will be based on the Entototo space observatory, the only one in East Africa located at 3200 meters high.
Zewde said: "It will provide all the necessary data on climate change and meteorological phenomena that will be used for the country's main objectives in agriculture, forestry and natural resource protection initiatives".
