A computer system bag puts British Airways on its knees
100 flights cancelled and 200 delays announced
On August 7, serious computer problems prevented reservations and check-in for the British Airways (BA). 100 flights are cancelled and another 200 are late. Thousands of furious vacationers are stuck in huge queues at Heathrow and Gatwick airports until the situation is resolved.
BA stated in a note that it is "working as quickly as possible to try to solve the inconvenience; it also offers customers booked on short-range services from Heathrow, Gatwick and London City the opportunity to book for another day" .
It is not the first time that the carrier has had to deal with computer failures: in 2017 due to a power outage it had to cancel 726 flights with compensation claims that cost around GBP 80 million.
