Israel: the second international airport at the end of the month
Infrastucture that cost $ 500 million
The second international airport of Israel will be operational in Eilat on 22nd January, allowing Israel to increase the number of flights with the world and to guarantee a certain security for air transport avoiding partial closures of the only international airport of Tel Aviv. A problem born in 2014 when the rockets launched from Gaza to the "Ben-Gurion" airport forced the airlines and the Israeli airport authority to put down many aircraft, cancelling flights for a few days in a row. Furthermore, focusing on Eilat should also increase tourism towards the Southern Red Sea, especially from Europe and the United States. The "Ramon" airport, located in the seaside resort on the edge of the Negev desert, cost about 500 million dollars and made it possible to build an infrastructure capable of managing 2 million passengers a year, but which will be expandable to reach 4.5 millions.
