Agung eruption, Java's Airport closed

For civil aviation, the smoke column doesn't make flights safe

Due to the eruption of the Agung volcano on the island of Bali (Indonesia), the Banyuwangi airport on the island of Java was closed because of the 5 km high ash column emitted by the volcano.

The closure was disposed despite the 125 kilometers of distance between the Agung and the airport of Java, but due to the smoke column the civil aviation doesn't consider safe the skies, so much so that it has raised the orange alert at level 3 of danger on a scale that reaches a maximum of 4.

Already on the week-end the Banyuwangi airport had been closed due to the eruption of the volcano.
