India launches tender for 56 utility helicopters

The Indian Navy has launched a new competitive tender for its new fleet of 56 naval light multipurpose helicopters to replace its aging force of indigenous HAL Chetaks. As reported by many press agencies, the RFP calls for aircraft with a maximum weight of 4,500kg, with bids due in January 2013. Many international helicopter-makers have been contacted for this tender, as usual for Indian contracts...
