ESA: GOCE's gradiometer switched on

Rome, Italy - The satellite is now fully operating

The gradiometer, the main instrument of the ESA (European Space Agency) satellite GOCE, has been switched on and started to send first data about the Earth's gravitational field. It's the first time that the gradiometer technology is used in Space. Danilo Muzi, GOCE mission project manager, stated: "We are very pleased with what we have seen from the gradiometer from the moment it was switched on"....
