United Airlines, a loss of 1.3 billion dollars

Atlanta, USA - The emblem of the US market's crisis

UAL Corp, the parent company of Chicago-based United Airlines, reported a net loss of 1.3 billion dollars in the quarter, hurt on erosion in the value of its fuel hedge program as oil prices fell. United had begun trimming flight capacity last year as jet-fuel costs soared. It have continued as the recession has curbed travel demand, even as fuel prices have declined.
