Iceland volcano eruption: flights are regular

The situation "remains dangerous", but the lava flow has begun to slow down

The volcano eruption in Iceland is not causing disruption to air connections at Keflavik airport. According to what we understand, the airport is operating normally and there have been no cancelled or delayed flights. The situation is currently described as "extremely dangerous", but the Icelandic Meteorological Service has announced that the lava flow has finally begun to slow down.

This is the second eruption in less than a month, the fifth from 2021 to date, also taking place on the Reykjaness peninsula, about forty kilometers as the crow flies from the capital Reykjavík. In 2010, clouds from the Eyafjallajokull volcano spread across much of Europe, blocking around 100,000 air links and forcing hundreds of Icelanders to evacuate their homes. Event not foreseen at the moment.
