Israel (2): airlines suspend flights

Measure will last until security conditions in Israel improve

Various airlines around the world have suspended air connections to and from Tel Aviv's "David Ben Gurion" international airport, after several rockets have been launched from the Gaza Strip towards the Israeli stopover. This is due to the escalation of violence in the Middle East between Israelis and Palestinians. It's a measure that will last until the security conditions in Israel improve.

US airlines United Airlines, Delta Air Lines and American Airlines said on Sunday they had suspended direct flights. Same decision for European airlines such as Air France, the Finnish Finnair, the low-cost Wizz Air and easyJet, as well as the Italian flag carrier ITA Airways. Connections also stopped for Chinese Hainan Airlines, Korea Air and Cathay Pacific. More generally, cancellations and time changes are expected.

After that shares of several companies plummeted on the stock market, due to the prospect of rising crude oil prices and therefore fuel costs. For this reason, investors have started selling the shares of players operating in the air transport sector: for example this morning at noon the Iag Group is at a loss of -3.26%, easyJet at -4.16%, Lufthansa -2.62%, Air France fell yesterday by -5% and then regained +2.85% today.
