Amsterdam Airport: 3.1 billions for works

Maintenance, expansion and modernization of the airport by 2027

The Amsterdam-Schiphol airport management company plans investments of over 3 billion dollars for the 2024-2027 development program, which includes maintenance and modernization works at the airport. Infrastructure operations concern four key areas: quality of service, quality of work, sustainability and safety.

"After many years of excessive attention to quantity, therefore to costs and growth, we now have to catch up and offer more quality to employees, travelers and airlines. Today the airport is not good. We need to make investments in our location and in the facilities, to align everything with the ambitions of quality and sustainability", explained Ruud Sondag, managing director of Schiphol.

Above all, the taxiways, the walkways, the 18 passenger bridges and the old concourse of Pier C Terminal will benefit from these investments. A new basement will be created for baggage handling. Lounges, walkways and elevators will be renovated; 136 rest areas and toilets for staff; the electrification of airport vehicles and new heating and cooling systems are underway. Roads and viaducts will be rebuilt.
