India: passengers questioned about money carried with them
New Delhi, India - To discover any illegal funding for upcoming elections
The Indian Election Commission has ordered airport authorities to carry out accurate checks on passengers carrying large amounts of money. Those who are caught with more than one million rupees (about USD 22,500) will be reported to the police. The measure has been implemented to avoid illegal funding for the upcoming parliamentary elections, starting 20 April.
