US Airways turns round

Rome, Italy - A year ago lost has been overcome

US Airways avoided bankruptcy in April 2003 and the second quarter net profit is of USD 13m. The carrier's recovery is due to cuts of the costs and to a Government aid which financed the expense for strengthening safety sistems. The same period last year, US Airways registered a loss of USD 248m. The carrier tried to react by 6500 job cuts and reducing the flight number of 11%.
