Nato accepts Turkish troops in Northern Iraq

Brussels, Belgium - Confirmation has come by Alliance General Secretary

George Robertson, Atlantic Alliance's General Secretary, has declared this morning that Nato has accepted the creation of a strip of 20 kilometers in Kurdistan, in Northern Iraq, managed by Turkey. Robertson has explained that the zone will be used exclusively for humanitarian reasons and will serve to receive the eventual flow of refugee, in escape from the conflict's areas. (0035)
