ALITALIA CLOSED THE THIRD QUARTER BALANCE WITH A LOSS
ROME, Alitalia reported a $35 million operating income with a profit of $27 million, a loss of $16 million compared with 1999. The loss reached $120 million in the first half of the year. The airline is considering the sale of 20 MD-80 planes to be leased by Alitalia. Domenico Cempella, carrier's managing director, said Alitalia is negotiating to find agreements with new partners.
